These are just a few of the custom built shade arbors and pergolas we've built for our customers. We specialize in creating custom partial-shade patio covers that reflect the style of your home and offer varying degrees of protection from the sun. It is important to understand the design elements of an arbor and how the placement and shape of the slats creates the amount of shade for your patio or deck. Depending on where the sun rises at the site of your patio, the slats on top of your arbor frame need to be positioned against the path of the sunrise and sunset to block the sun's rays. At midday, when the sun is directly above your arbor, you'll have the least amount of protection. You can increase your shade by 'stacking' layers of slats on top of each other and by increasing the height of each slat. When the sun is shining at an angle, the more layers of slats and the taller the slats, the more sun is blocked. Plus, the multiple layers of slats on an arbor create a beautiful pergola over your patio, deck or porch.
